Meet the Teacher

Welcome to Thank God it's First Grade!

My name is Susan Jones and as you can tell by my blog name, I have always wanted to teach first grade! When I got hired as a first grade teacher I was beyond thrilled and 5 years later, I am still loving every second of it. Here is a little bit about me:

I graduated Salem State University in 2010 where I got my degree in Elementary Education.

When my husband and I graduated college in 2010, we packed up everything and traveled cross country to Las Vegas, NV! We figured before we settle down we should have some fun first, and what is more fun than Vegas?!

While living in Vegas, I landed my first teaching job, made lots of friends & got engaged:
my first little classroom :)

engaged to my best friend on 12/29/2011

After three FUN years in Vegas, we decided to move back home to Salem, get married, settle down and start our family.
married 9/20/2013

Our perfect baby boy, Theo

Our second perfect baby boy, Calvin

I also got a new job teaching first grade (of course!)
I love my job and my firsties! The growth that happens from the first day to the last day in 1st grade is like none other and I am so appreciative every day that I get to do what I love!

Oh, and my lifelong dream of getting on Wheel of Fortune came true when I was in college!
That's me in the middle with Jeff Probst (the host of survivor). Wahoo!

You are welcome to join me in my blogging & real life adventures.
Follow, comment, and have fun!

  1. Your ring is beautiful!!I teach 1st grade too and I'm a newly wed myself. What a fun move you made! I grew up in NY (so we prob don't cheer for the same sports teams lol)and moved to Colorado after college. But I've always wanted to go to Vegas! Now it's a very short plane ride away for me so I'm hoping to made a trip out there this year. I'm always on the look out for new first grade blogs, now following :)
